Posted Tuesday, September 14, 2018 13:09:00The Brisbane Roars have added a handful of fresh faces for their inaugural season in the A-League and, crucially, one of their marquee players has been added to their squad.

Brisbane Roar chief executive Mark Jones said on Tuesday the club had been looking at several options to fill its squad for the new campaign, including the likes of Alexandre Graziano and Michael Farfan, but has opted to bring in Alex DeBrincat.

DeBrincath has been a consistent target for the Roar and has been linked to the Aussie Football League’s Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory this season.

Jones said DeBrindt’s contract with Brisbane Roas was not up for renewal and he was a big player in the Roars squad this season, with the Roar having a record of four consecutive victories, the only time they have not conceded in the league.

The Roar have lost the past four games, with a 2-0 defeat to Adelaide United on Sunday followed by a 2:1 loss to the Brisbane Roast on Saturday.

The Roars’ run of form in 2018 has been marred by a series of injuries to key players, with the likes Alex de Guzman, Alex Rance, Dan Gosling, Ryan Fredericks and Ben Halloran all out with serious injuries.

Jones also confirmed that veteran Graziano, who was a key part of the Roast’s premiership winning squad in the 2015/16 season, would not be returning to Brisbane next season.

Graziani, 31, has made 39 appearances for the Brisbane Lions since making his debut in 2008.

Granville said the Roarr had not had a great year this season but was still hopeful of reaching the finals in the coming years.

“We’re just really confident that we can achieve our objective,” Granville said.

We’ve got some really good players that are hungry to do well, and we know that if we’re going to get to those finals we’re just going to have to be the best team on the field.”
